Ethan Friend

Mr. Ethan Friend is an undergraduate student in Baylor University’s Honors College pursuing studies in Medical Humanities with a classic liberal arts foundation to develop a holistic approach to medicine. He is passionate about the intersection of medicine, narrative, and human experience, seeking to understand how storytelling shapes empathy and care within healthcare and society.

Mr. Friend serves as a volunteer with Baylor Buddies through Alpha Epsilon Delta, Baylor’s pre-health honor society, where he mentors and supports youth in the local community. He also conducts clinical research alongside a local hepatologist, contributing to the development of non-invasive diagnostic methods for metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). His work has resulted in authorship on a forthcoming publication.

In 2024, Mr. Friend co-founded the Baylor cohort of Stanford University’s University Innovation Fellows (UIF), a nationally competitive program that empowers students to design creative, human-centered solutions to campus challenges. Through UIF, he has helped lead initiatives to improve student engagement and sustainability within university dining services.

Mr. Friend hopes to pursue a career in medicine that integrates scientific rigor with humanistic understanding, using narrative and innovation to advance compassionate, patient-centered care.
