Sustainability Leadership Committee

The Baylor in Deeds strategic plan prioritizes sustainability through the commitment for Demonstrating Christian Stewardship and integrates strategies related to sustainability across all 4 commitments within the plan.  In response to this, Baylor formed the Sustainability Leadership Committee, with membership appointments from the President's Council. 

The committee is charged with crafting the vision for Baylor’s holistic contribution to Sustainability, coordinating sustainability work across academic and administrative units, and advising senior leadership on university initiatives for sustainability. Through coordination between operational, academic, student life, and community partners, the vision, goals, and strategies will address environmental, societal, and economic dimensions of sustainability, while elevating the University’s Strategic Plan.

Committee Meeting Process

Year 1
Throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, the committee drafted and converged on a vision statement, strategic planning priority areas, aspirational goals for each area, and a recommended list of stakeholders to engage in developing strategies, metrics, and actions as part of the next step of this process.
Year 2
The next phase of this important work entails a collaborative process to draft Baylor’s Sustainability Action Plan with strategies for accomplishing Baylor’s sustainability goals, fulfilling Baylor’s sustainability vision, and elevating Baylor In Deeds. Strategies will be developed over the course of the 2025-2026 academic year and the Sustainability Action Plan will be presented to President’s Council during Summer of 2026.
