Recycling at Baylor
Recycling conserves resources, saves energy, prevents greenhouse gas emissions, creates jobs, and diverts waste from the landfill...that's why Bears Care to recycle at Baylor!
🌟 Campus-Wide Recycling Improvements
Baylor is making big changes to make recycling easier and more effective:
Strategic Collaboration: Since 2024, the Office of Sustainability has been working closely with Facilities Management and our new contractors to prioritize recycling improvements and ensure the right stakeholders are accountable for helping the campus community Recycle Right.
Expanded Outdoor Bins: Wherever you see a trash bin outdoors, you’ll now see a recycling bin next to it! These paired stations give everyone equal access to recycle on the go. Installation started over Spring Break 2026 and will continue through the end of the semester.
Clearer Labels: Partnering with Recycle Across America, Baylor is using nationally recognized, consistent bin labels to reduce confusion and contamination.
Operational Improvements: Facilities Management is rolling out standardized bag colors — black for trash, blue for recycling — with Athletics and Dining aligning to the same system.
Indoor Waste Stations Coming Soon: Indoor recycling stations will soon receive the same updates as the outdoor bins — paired trash and recycling containers, clear labels, and standardized bag colors — making it even easier to Recycle Right everywhere on campus.
♻️ Recycle Right Initiative
All of these efforts are part of Baylor’s Recycle Right initiative — designed to make recycling simple, reduce waste contamination, and maximize environmental impact across campus.
