Brian Thomas, M.A.

Brian’s focus in the field of sustainability is at the nexus of energy and human flourishing. More specifically, he is interested in innovative ways to provide reliable electricity access to the approximately one billion people living without it. The ability to control the flows of energy from sources outside of the human body directly is related to the ability to exercise human agency. Brian has spearheaded the creation of small nonprofit organizations and businesses to provide village-level power using very small hydroelectric systems in remote Honduran locations as well as designed and installed solar photovoltaic arrays and lithium battery systems in Haitian hospitals and medical clinics. He now hosts a podcast called Electric Equity with the aim of illuminating the efforts of groups working on this global problem and exploring the technologies and ethical issues involved in bringing electricity access to the energy poor.
