Casiana Lummer

Casi is a Sophomore University Scholar with secondary majors in Anthropology and Sociology and a minor in Outdoor Education and Leadership. She began working for the Office of Sustainability in Fall 2024 and specializes in waste reduction, where her major projects have included creating educational materials for Baylor University and monitoring changes in waste with a Geographic Information System. She loves how her impact and correspondence with the community can help inform others to become more sustainable and change their habits. 

Among her accomplishments are continued correspondence and service with Mission Waco, specifically Urban R.E.A.P., and the establishment of two gardens for Waco Family Medicine: Community Garden (food producing for recipes shared with patients for wellness) and the Pollinator Garden (nectar and emotional relief for patients and caregivers). Additionally, Casi’s contribution to “Seeds of Change: Waco’s Sustainable Tomorrow” helps facilitate information about the “S.C.R.A.P. Collective,” uniting Baylor University with the greater Waco Community. Additionally, she works in Baylor’s “Laboratory of Evolutionary Medicine & One Health” and for Baylor’s Outdoor Adventure. 

Casi loves the outdoors and the potential to give back to Mother Nature. Her hobbies include anything outside, especially if it relates to mountains and beaches. She enjoys acts of service in volunteering, restoration, and conservation. Her love for nature, people, and the communities that result from them inspires her to “Leave No Trace” and “Do No Harm.”
